February 3, 2012 - 4-wheelers are
okay to use on the bay again. We have 5 to 6 inches of good ice on the
bay. Boy Scout Point has 7 to 8 inches. The shoreline is good again,
but caution is needed on the long points and pressure ridges. The fishing
was awesome this week. A few walleye (some to 10 lbs), lots of northern in
the 5 to 10 lb range, and the perch bite is exceptional. Join us for the
tournament on Sunday February 5. First prize is cash plus a 9 inch Jiffy
ice auger.
February 1, 2012 - Still 5 inches in
the bay but caution is advised. Walk-on fishing is great. We
recommend limited atv access until cold weather hits. The forecast is
calling for highs in the 20s starting on Saturday.
January 30, 2012 - We still have 5
inches of ice in the bay, but the warm weather is starting to affect the
shoreline. At this point, there are still 4-wheelers going out, but
caution is imperative. Northern are still biting, and we have finally seen
some walleye around 5 to 7 pounds coming in.
January 23, 2012 - There is a good 5
to 6 inches of ice in the bay all the way to Peterson Point. The main lake
has a couple of inches of ice and is frozen as far as you can see in all
directions. Don't forget to join us for the tournament on Feb. 5th.
January 18, 2012 - We finally have
ice! There is 4 to 5 inches in the bay all the way to the main lake.
Clint will be going out tomorrow to see what the main looks like. I will
update you then.
December 28, 2011 - The weather is
fabulous! Bring your boat and enjoy some great fishing. The Northern
bite is hot and walleye are picking up. Try something new...Fish out of
your boat in December:)
December 26, 2011 - You read that
correctly:) The northern bite is still hot, but you will need a boat.
The lake is completely open. With sunny 50 degree days, how can you go
wrong? Water temp is 33 so if the weather turns cold the ice will build
quickly. Until then, come and enjoy the nice weather out on the lake.
December 13, 2011 - There is no ice
on the bay yet, but hopefully by Christmas if the weather stays cold.
Remember to join us for our annual ice fishing tournament on February 5, 2012.
Call for details: 406-557-2345 or 406-557-2045.
October 17, 2011 - It seems the
walleye have once again gone deep and become elusive. A few are still
coming in though. However, it is a northern fisherman's dream. You
can almost anchor and watch them jump in the boat. Cranks, spoons, or a
spinner with some orange and silver have been great. Target the weed beds
and you are sure to find them. Small mouth are also still hitting quite
well. Northern and smallys are being caught from the shore, as well.
September 24, 2011 - The walleye bite has turned on for the Fall.
Bottom bouncing with chartreuse and orange with a crawler has been
working well at 15 to 20 feet depth. The northern have moved to
more shallow water and are hitting on a crankbait or a spoon.
